Major Scales Explained!

E-mail
Yr level: 9/10
Timeframe: 2*1hr lessons
Strands:
  • Developing Practical Knowledge in Music

Description:

Major Scales scaffolded using a keyboard visual.

  • White note names and black note names and the position on a keyboard.
  • Intervals - Semitones / Tones
  • Tone and semitone pattern for a major scale
  • Applying this pattern to different starting notes.

Step by step process explain the concept of a major scale. I often teach this beside interval recognition so they can marry the theory with what it sounds like.
